Race Description:
This race marks the end of the 2012 Bellingham Trail Running Series! Which means we will have a rollicking good time before, during, and especially after the race! We will have live music from the Blackberry Bushes Stringband and local beer. I said we'd have a good time, didn't I?!

Date:
Sunday, July 29, 2012

Distances:
12K & 30K

Location:
The Band Shell (South Day Use Area) in Larrabee State Park. Click HERE to see a map of the park with the Band Shell.

Series Awards:
We are hoping to have time during and after the race to score peoples overall series points and give out awards for series overall and age group winners. If we don't have time to score the points day-of, winners will get their trophies mailed to them.

The Final Course:
We have chosen a popular and challenging course for the final race. Due to the DNR's denial of recreational events on their land, we won't be able to stage a race at Blanchard Mountain. Instead, we will use the popular and scenic trails on Chuckanut Mountain.
30K: The 30k is a Bellingham classic, also known as the "Middle 18" for those runners who are familiar with the Chuckanut 50k. It has a little of everything and will test runners skill on narrow and technical single track trails, long climbs and descents, a shorter steep climb, with some beautiful views from the Chuckanut Ridge, Fragrance Lake, and Lost Lake Trail.
12K: The 12k will challenge runners to a good climb up Fragrance Lake Trail and onto what we fondly call "Chinscraper" (Black Diamond) for the last 3/4 of a mile of the climb: a steep relentless climb, rewarding runners with a view from the top of Chucknut Mountain at Cyrus Overlook. The 12k will then descend for the last half of the race, a pure up and down course!
