Course Descriptions
Alger Alp, aka "Little Baldy" is a super cool peak right by the city of Alger. For those of you who don't know Alger, it's just south of Bellingham, about a 15 minute drive. The peak reaches 1,293 feet and has an incredible view of Mt. Baker on a clear day.
5 Mile Course Info: The 5 mile race climbs up to Squires lake, then continues up to the top of Alger Alp. This is a really fun climb with incredible views of Mt. Baker. After climbing Alger Alp, runners will descend and run around the Beaver Pond and Squires Lake to finish at the Squires Lake Trail head Parking Lot off Old Hwy 99.
25K Course Info: Same start time as 5 mile (10am). Sorry, no early start. The 25k distance will be 3 repeats of the 5 mile course. The 5 mile course is just over 5 miles (5.2), so the 25k will be 15.6 miles. Runners will climb up Alger Alp and descend back into the parking lot at Squires Lake Trail head where there will be an aid station and they will get "Checked off" for each loop they do by aid station volunteers. This means there will be an aid station every 5.2 miles. You may leave a drop bag at this location. The elevation gain for the 25k will be 3,900 feet. See maps and Garmin info on the event website for more information on the course.
50K Course Info: Same start time as 5 mile (10am). Cutoff will be at 6 pm, or 8 hours total. Runners who are not starting loop #6 before 4:40pm will not be allowed to continue. Sorry, no early start. The 50k distance will be 6 repeats of the 5 mile course. The 5 mile course is just over 5 miles, so the 50k will be almost exactly 31 miles. Runners will climb up Alger Alp and descend back into the parking lot at Squires Lake Trail head where there will be an aid station and they will get "Checked off" for each loop they do by aid station volunteers. This means there will be an aid station every 5 miles. You may leave a drop bag at this location. The elevation gain for the 50k will be 7,800 feet! Pretty sweet, huh? See maps and Garmin info on the event website for more information on the course.
