****NOTE: NO DAY OF RACE REGISTRATION.

Date: Saturday, January 22, 2011

Sign up: On databarevents.com. On-line registration only. Fee is $15. Why the cost? Insurance fee, permit fee, Porta Potties, supplies, blood, sweat, and tears! The longer you run, the better the deal!

What to bring race day: Up to three items for the food bank with one item being chicken noodle soup (butternut squash for vegetarians) that we will consume post race. Bring another item to share post race if you would like. Please do not bring more than 3 items for the food bank as I have to haul it all there and cannot accomdate everyone's pantry.

Start time: 7:30AM (or as soon as it gets light enough). Early start only for 50K runners expecting to take more than 7 hours. No exceptions. Start will be at 6:30am. You will need to start with a headlamp or flashlight.

Check in: 6:45-7:25AM. Everyone must check in at the start.

Course: This is a 9.6 mile loop around the Lake Youngs Watershed. The terrain is rolling and a mixture of packed gravel, trail, and a very short section of road. The trail hugs the fence that goes around the watershed, so getting lost is not really a problem. If you have crossed a road, you have gone off course. There are mile marks on the fence along the trail but not sure how accurate they really are.

Distances:
9.6 miles=one loop
19.2 miles=2 loops
50K=3 loops and a 2.2 mile out and back (1.1 out and 1.1 back)

Drop bags: At start/finish. I will bring a tarp to place bags on but they will not be under cover. Please bring a waterproof bag to place your items in.

Aid station: There is only one aid station located at the start/finish. Everyone must carry one water bottle or hydration pack (unless you are running only one loop and feel you can go without hydration or fuel for 9.6 miles). The aid station will have the usual ultra fare including water, Gatorade, soup, chips, pretzels, candy, cookies, etc. I will not have gels, shot bloks, or similar types of fuel. Please bring your own. No trash on the course. Please carry to the aid station and deposit there.

Bathrooms: I will plan on having two Porta-Potties at the start/finish area. There are no bathrooms on course other than the woods. Please be aware that we will be running near residential areas at times.

Awards: Only for 50K runners. I expect you to run that much to burn off the calories from the prizes. These will go to first male and female in the Open, Masters, and Supermasters (50+). Prizes are sausage, bacon, or eggs from our farm.

Directions and parking: Take exit 4 off I-405 to Maple Valley/Black Diamond/Enumclaw/Hwy 169. Drive east several miles and take a right on 140th Way SE. Go uphill for about 2 miles and take a left on SE Petrovitsky Road. In another about 2 miles, turn right on Old Petrovitsky Rd in 4 lights.Parking lot is on the left in about 100 yards. (Note, if you take the earlier spur of Old Petrovitsky Rd, the parking will be on your right in about 1/4+ mile.) Please carpool! There are limited parking spaces. People have needed to park along the road. Please park tightly. If someone is pulling in to park and you have your car door open, for example, close your door and let them squeeze in snug to you.

From Hwy 18, take the Maple Valley exit. If coming from Tacoma, take a left at the end of the off ramp, go over Hwy 18 and take a right on SE Petrovitsky road. If coming from Issaquah/North Bend, take a right at end of off ramp with immediate right onto SE Petrovitsky Rd. For both, drive 3+ miles and take a left on Old Petrovitsky Rd in 2 lights. Parking is on left in 100 yards. Please carpool!
