lisa hall

Bio:

Lisa Hall is a passionate marathon/ultra marathon runner and patient advocate as a result of her own amazing medical journey. She suffered for nearly a decade from an undiagnosed, debilitating medical condition that stole her life and her independence. During her period of incapacitation, she was unable to work, drive a car, or walk more than 20 or 30 feet, and used a cane and sometimes, a wheelchair for mobility. In 2002, Lisa finally received the correct diagnosis after consulting 38 physicians at some of the most esteemed medical facilities in the US. Her prescribed treatment regimen helped her reclaim her life over the next five years. In 2007, she felt called to write a book to help other patients facing similar frustrations. She lead the charge in empowering patients to take charge of their health in her book Taking Charge of Your Own Health (Harvest House Publishers: 2009). You can learn more about Lisa's story by visiting www.theproactivepatient.com and by viewing the video links below. Lisa's story transcends beyond a typical happily ever after ending. In late 2009, she began running to lose weight and to get into shape, but became hooked on running. She loved the feeling of her body moving freely, following her decade of physical limitations. Four and a half years later, Lisa has completed ten half-marathons, ten full marathons, three 50ks, two 50-mile races and numerous 5k, 10k, 10 mile and 15k races. During the next four months, she plans to complete one marathon, two 50k races and another 50 mile race. Her ultimate goal is to complete a 100-mile race in 2014. Lisa returned to the workforce full-time in early 2010 and now enjoys her career as an Organization Development Specialist.
