 Dizzy Daze 13.1/26.2/50K/100K

April 3rd, 2010 7:00 am

ALL THE PAIN AND SUFFERING OF AN ULTRA, WITHOUT THE ANNOYING CHANGE OF SCENERY!

Dizzy Daze is held at beautiful Green Lake Park in Seattle, Wa.  The race uses the OUTER running loop around the lake.  Runners will travel counter-clockwise and stay either on the groomed path or to the road side of the path.  The total distance of the loop is approximately 3.2 miles, and therefore to complete the 50K, runners will complete 10 laps, meaning you get some bonus miles, absolutely free!; the 100K will be 19 loops with a short out and back.   This year, I am adding a 25K and an official 26.2 marathon distance (not a BQ, sorry).  The 13.1 will be 1/2 Fanatics applicable, and the marathon and beyond distances will fulfill Maniacs requirements. The trail is a partially paved, pancake flat loop - making it a great course for a PR or to attempt a new distance.  (http://www.seattle.gov/parks/_images/maps/GreenLake.jpg)  There will be one fully stocked aid station, with all the usual fare:  water, GU, NuuN, Fruit, Pretzels, SaltStick Electrolyte Caps, PB&J, Coke, etc. etc. etc.Cost:  $40  Registration increases to $45 after March 1st, and is $50 on race day.  Registration covers a fully permitted race, a tech shirt, and various other goodies, thanks to fantastic sponsors.

Registration: Registration can be done online, or payment can be made by check and/or cash at packet pickup.  A waiver will need to be signed on race day.

Race Rules:

• Please be aware that the trail is open to the public and therefore there will be other traffic – please be respectful of other people on the trail.

• No cheating – cheaters never prosper… and besides that, they will be disqualified.

•  The runner has the primary responsibility for monitoring their own health.  A runner can be removed from the race at any time due to safety or health concerns.

• No littering.

• If you sign up for the 100K, and decide to stop at 50K, your name can be added to the results of the 50K.  If you chose to continue but drop, you will receive a DNF (unless you bring the Race Director coffee or say nice things about him).

Pacers:  100K racers: If you choose to use a pacer, please do not do so until after the 50K mark and be respectful of other runners who may be trying to pass.

Below are directions to the Dizzy Daze race start/finish area, which will be next to the boathouse at Green Lake (it is on the south end of the lake).  There is plenty of parking on both sides of the street.
