A Chase for Child Abuse Prevention 5K run/walk is being held to raise money for child abuse awareness in honor of 16-year-old Chase Scheidt. Chase was abused at the hands of his biological father at five weeks old and suffers from permanent brain damage as a result. Although he is the happiest teenager anyone could meet, he has come across many difficulties with walking and talking and experiences seizures in his hands and face. Doctors have never directly diagnosed the problem. Knowing that all these difficulties come as a result of a man who could not control his anger inspired Chase’s sister to organize this race.
This 5K run/walk will be a skirt-chaser run, where all women will start the race two minutes before men. The first men to catch one of the two ladies wearing targets on their backs will receive very special prizes. All finishers will receive a finisher medal. After the 5K we will have a 1K for kids 11 & under.
ALL profits will be going to the Child Abuse Intervention program at Mary Bridge Children's hospital in Tacoma.
